Batanes on Thursday appealed for help for the victims of Typhoon Kiko, which stirred near-super typhoon rains and winds in northern Luzon last week.
Batanes, which is under state of calamity, recorded 27 injuries as of Sept. 15.

The Office of the Provincial Governor is asking for housing materials, rice, and other food items which will be given to families affected by Kiko, the 11th storm of the year.
Donors can drop off their in-kind donations at Sangley Point, Cavite, where a Philippine Navy ship heading to Batanes will be waiting. Loading will start on Sunday, Sept. 19.

Bishop Danilo Ulep also asked for financial assistance after the typhoon blew away houses and destroyed buildings, including the Ivana Parish and St. Dominic College.
According to the local government, 354 houses were totally damaged while 1,254 were partially damaged.
"We remain undaunted. We are certain that we can recover from this disaster. With your support, we know that we can get back on our feet and move on with our life after this yet another trial," he said in a statement released by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.
