BDO Unibank, Inc. said Monday it was launching QR code withdrawals at select Makati City ATMs to minimize contact risks for its clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here's how to withdraw from a BDO ATM using a QR code:
Prior to withdrawing via QR code, clients must first download the BDO Digital Banking App. from the app, click on "More" from the options. Select "Withdraw" then "Via QR." Pick the account, input the amount, and save the QR Code.
Each generated QR code is unique to each withdrawal transaction. The code is valid for only 24 hours upon generation to protect the account.
Do take note that the Withdrawal QR Code is different from the Account QR Code you use to send or receieve money.
Once you're in front of a BDO ATM, tap "QR Code Transaction" on the screen and allow the machine to scan your QR Code. You can pick if you want a printed receipt or not. Then, wait for the machine to dispense cash.
While the process is secure, "We remind our clients to entrust their Withdrawal QR Codes with others prudently," said Tovi Mendoza, BDO Unibank Senior Vice President and Head of ATM Network & Applied Payment Solutions.
There are some 100 QR-enabled ATMs in Makati City. BDO is eyeing to install more of these ATMs nationawide within the year.
