'Bising' Halts Travel from Bicol to Visayas, Mindanao

Postponement of land, sea trips recommended.

All land and sea travel to the Visayas and Mindanao via Matnog and all other ports in the Bicol Region were suspended starting noon Friday due to incoming typhoon Bising (Surigae), authorities said.

Trucking and logistics companies and bus operators were advised to postpone their trips to  avoid long queues at Matnog, Sorsogon, to Daraga, Albay, the Department of Transportation said.

Bising strengthened into a typhoon as it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning. While it is unlikely to hit land, it could bring heavy rains to the country's eastern seaboard.
