Disconnection activities in Metro Manila areas that will be under granular lockdown, and areas under MECQ will remain suspended in September, Meralco announced Tuesday, a day before new community quarantine protocols take effect.
Meralco said disconnection activities were suspended until Sept. 30 in Metro Manila areas under small-scale lockdowns, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Lucena City.
The capital region will be under GCQ until the end of the month but would serve as a pilot testing area for granular lockdowns while the rest of the mentioned areas will be under MECQ.
“Given the heightened restrictions still being implemented during the month of September, we continue to take into consideration the challenges our customers are facing amid these difficult times,” Meralco chief commercial officer Ferdinand Geluz said.
"For areas under GCQ and not under granular lockdowns, Meralco assured customers that it will be very considerate and compassionate. The power utility also encourages customers to reach out to them to discuss their concerns and even come up with payment arrangements, if needed," he added.
Meralco assured customers that operations such as meter reading, and bill delivery would continue.
