Pink Love Wins: 'Rosas' Singer Weds Partner in Australia

Musician Nica del Rosario, who sang former vice president Leni Robredo's campaign anthems "Rosas" and "Kay Leni Tayo" married her partner, actress and singer Justin Peña, in a civil ceremony in Australia.

The newly married couple shared on social media photos of the wedding, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge as the backdrop. They used the hashtag "#JusMarriedNica".

A day before the ceremony, Peña opened up about the "sad reality" that once they go back to the Philippines, laws still wouldn't recognize their marriage as valid.

In Australia, same-sex marriages has been legal since 2017 even for couples that are only tourist visa holders.

"It won't matter that my wife-to-be and I will have tied the knot abroad. It won't even matter that it'll be considered valid in other countries. When I sign any legal documents back home, I'll still have to mark myself as 'single.' It's a sad reality isn't it?" she said in her Instagram post.

Peña assured that despite their situation, they remain happy and optimistic that in the future, their union will be made valid by Philippine laws. 

"Now before anyone worries, just know that we're very happy. Yes, we won't have rights as a couple, but we're hopeful that one day that will change. For now, we'll keep fighting by loving freely and openly," she added.
