#WalangPasok: Classes, Work in Gov't Offices Suspended Aug. 23 to 24

As Florita makes landfall.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has declared a suspension of classes and work in all public schools and government offices affected by Severe Tropical Storm Florita from Tuesday to Wednedsay, Malacañang said.

The suspension covers areas in NCR, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, and Bataan effective 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The decision to suspend classes and work was made based on the recommendations of the Office of Civil Defense as heavy rains pose possible risk to the general public, the Office of the Press Secretary said.

"The same course of action for private schools and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads," it added.

Florita, the sixth storm to hit the country this year, further intensified on Tuesday as it made landfall over Maconacon town in Isabela, threatening nearby areas with heavy rains and strong winds.
