The Philippines on Tuesday logged 1,409 new COVID-19 cases as global infections passed the 250 million mark.
The day's tally brought active cases to 30,544. The Department of Health also reported 2,941 new recoveries and 46 new deaths.
Overall, a total of 2,806,694 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,731,583 have recovered and 44,567 died.
The looser Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila is expected to end on Nov. 21. The face shield requirement is being reviewed due to a drop in cases.
Cinemas are preparing to reopen to moviegoers for the first time in 18 months. For the safety of viewers and staff, talking and eating are prohibited and masks and shields must be worn for the entire duration of the film.
Despite fewer cases recorded in the country, infections around the world have been slowly increasing over the past few weeks.
