The opening of the LRT-2 East Extension's Marikina and Antipolo stations was postponed to June from April due to tighter COVID-19 restrictions limiting final works, transportation officials said.

Instead of a formal inauguration, there will be an operational trial run on April 26. The inauguration is scheduled for June 23.

Once fully operational, the additional stations will increase the railway line's capacity by 80,000 passengers daily and cut travel time between Antipolo and Manila to 40 minutes from three hours.
